About xlokk
xlokk.com is a free Great Lakes marine conditions resource. We bring buoy observations, marina water levels, tides and water-level data, marine and land weather forecasts, and active alerts together in one fast, clean interface covering all six lakes of the system: Erie, St. Clair, Huron, Michigan, Superior, and Ontario.
Our Mission
The Great Lakes hold their own weather. Conditions can turn/change in minutes, the official data lives across a dozen separate government feeds, and most of those feeds were never designed to be read quickly from a phone at a launch ramp or a slip. We built xlokk to fix that: to take authoritative public observations and forecasts and present them in a way that is immediate, mobile-friendly, and genuinely useful to the people who spend time on and near the water — boaters, anglers, paddlers, sailors, marina operators, and lakeshore residents.
Where the Data Comes From
xlokk does not generate its own weather. We aggregate and visualize data from authoritative sources — principally the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and its National Weather Service (NWS), National Data Buoy Center, Tides and Currents (CO-OPS), and Operational Forecast Systems. A full list of our data sources and the open-source software that powers the site is on our Credits page.
Because that data is collected and modeled by others, it can be delayed, interrupted, or revised, and it is never a substitute for official forecasts and warnings. xlokk is an informational tool, not a navigation or safety system. Please read our Disclaimer before relying on anything you see here.
Who Operates xlokk
xlokk.com is a trade name of Compitpros.com LLC, a limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Ohio, United States. The site is independently operated and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NOAA, the National Weather Service, the U.S. Coast Guard, or any other government agency.
